The Penelope phone echoes the famous Bakelite phones of the 30's and 40's. These phones, restricted by the material's brittleness, could never become the flowing, sensual objects they were meant to be. By the time technology caught up, the trend had moved on to the harder, squarer shapes, then considered progressive. Hulger have therefore returned to the essential forms of this period, to resolve their unfinished business.
