British artist/designer Stephen Newby works in a unique medium: blown stainless steel. Newby calls his work Full Blown Metals, and he’s applied his unusual medium to create a wide range of objects, ranging from radiators to garden sculptures.
With each piece Newby intends to “to soften and bring an organic, tactile quality clinically modern materials… and in doing so giving these materials a soul.” This has resulted in a number of crazy pieces, from which we’ve chosen a selection of our favorites to show you:
Pictured above is the “Soft Seat Chair.” In thumb one you’ll find the “Equity Table,” our favorite piece of furniture from Newby’s collection. In thumb two you’ll see the “Pillow Radiator,” which Newby designed for Bisque Radiators in 2006. Thumb three shows a water scultpure titled “Floating Pillows.” And, thumb four shows Newby’s “Ctube” concept sculpture design.
