matthew marks gallery in new york is currently showing an exhibition of work by seattle based artist roy mcmakin.
running from now until june 21st, 'roy mcmakin: for' features recent sculptures and photographs both new and old.
mcmakin's work blurs the line between sculpture and furniture, playing with the conventions of both. in this show,
he is showing a series of works created from found pieces of furniture paired with pieces of his own creation.
the pieces fit together in a positive negative manner. also on show is a green dresser featuring drawer pulls in the
shape of 3-d keyholes, again a transformation of negative into positive. from Roy McMakin
