First you connect it up to your computer via USB, and then load up any sound (up to 30secs long) as a WAV or MP3 that you want to replace your irritating 'Ding Dong'. You then need to disconnect it and wire it up to your existing doorbell. It comes with three volume settings, a loop for hanging by the door and requires three AA batteries.
