the new turner contemporary gallery in margate, england designed by david chipperfield architects has been
granted planning permission by the local council. set to be completed in 2010, the building in situated on a site
once occupied by a guest house frequented by the artist jmw turner. the gallery will feature historic and
contemporary programming in the structure designed to connect to both the sea and town. the 2-story gallery
is built on a raised platform to protect against flooding. it will consist of 6 interconnected volumes, all covered
in white glass to illuminate the interior
